James Lyle Beer “Jim”

of Drayton and formerly Peel Township passed away peacefully at the Palmerston and District Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 in his 89th year.  Beloved husband of Jeanette (Euler) Beer for 61 years.  Dear father of Ron Beer of Fergus, Kevin Beer of Arthur and Susanne Beer of Drayton. Cherished grandfather of Marika and Zakhar Okunev of Kelowna.  Brother of John and Sharon Beer of Georgetown. Brother-in-law of Lois Euler of Kitchener. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Olive Beer and brother-in-law Gordon Euler.

Jim was passionate about agriculture his whole life, both as a farmer as well as running Beer’s Seeds Ltd. He grew and processed pedigreed farm planting seed and then, being a very entrepreneurial person, shifted the business to packaging bird seed. A significant amount of time was dedicated to serving on the board of multiple seed grower associations throughout his years. Although a hardworking man, when his family was younger, Jim still enjoyed taking his family camping in the summer, as well as loved to get out on the water in his boat.

The family will receive friends at the Drayton Reformed Church, 74 Wellington Street South, Drayton on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service of remembrance will be held in the Drayton Reformed Church on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
