Although we are sad, we are rejoicing that the Lord has called Heiltje home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in her 79th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 34 years Reyer Van Steenbergen in 1996. She will be deeply missed by her three children and their spouses Henk and Julia Van Steenbergen, Jantine and Tom Dykstra and Albert and Lisa Van Steenbergen. Heiltje was blessed with seventeen grandchildren, Joel, Timothy, Benjamin, Zechariah, Samuel, Levi, Rosanna, Abby, Helen, Katharine, Jordan, Ryan, Simon, Richard, Alexander, Kierra and Dahlia. In the last two years she was also blessed with three great grandchildren Isaiah, Janita and Isaac. She is also fondly remembered by her brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Netherlands. Heiltje and her husband Reyer and their three teenage children took the big step in 1982 to immigrate from the Netherlands to Canada, settling on the farm in the Listowel, Ontario area. After her husband’s passing, Heiltje moved to Holland Christian Homes in Brampton in 2000. She has enjoyed being part of this great community for the past 16 years. Heiltje took great comfort and rejoiced in the belief and knowledge that she will be with the Lord for eternity.
She will be put to rest beside her husband on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Drayton Cemetery.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate her life will be held at the Heritage Fellowship Christian Reformed Church in the Holland Christian Homes, 7900 McLaughlin Road South Brampton, Ontario on Friday October 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
