Elias Joseph Lewis
February 3, 1946-March 24, 2018
Passed suddenly at his home in Clifford Ontario.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley [Mattinson], children Mary (Brett), Joe (Isabella), grandchildren Danielle, Brody, Kassidy, Olivia, Maddi and his great grand daughter Maya. He will be missed by his brother Johnny (Tracey), sisters, nieces, nephews and many other family members.
Eli was a simple man who loved his family almost as much as his bologna, mustard pickles and coffee. He was a man of few words, even fewer if you didn’t understand authentic “newfie” and was never without his Toronto Maple Leafs hat, pocket knife, nail clippers and pocket full of tissues.
Dad was a die hard, life long, Leafs fan and if you’re a Leafs fan you know just how hard that can be. LET’S GO LEAFS!
No one has or ever will rock a fanny pack quite like Poppa.
One of his favourite past times was watching 16 consecutive hours of CP 24 a day and passing along just enough incorrect information so you had no idea what was happening.
He was always in a hurry to get where he was going just in case it snowed, even in July and was never late. EVER.
Eli was known to his family as the Red Green of handymen and enjoyed nothing more then bleeding all over your project while “giving you a hand”. He had a severe sweet tooth and always had candy to share with everyone.
Eli lived by the moto that you just don’t need more than 3 t-shirts in your life, socks don’t have to match and showering is optional.
His family will miss his constant reminders not to drive so fast, always carry your wallet and license and not to drink and drive.
Whether you called him ELI, LIE, DAD or POPPA he will be missed until the end of our days.
You were a unique man and no one will ever fill your “borrowed” shoes.
“I always wanted a pair of those ”
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned in the near future.
As expressions of sympathy Eli would want you to keep your hard earned money.
