SMITH, Sterling Glenwood; Peacefully at his home in Arthur on Wednesday November 16, 2011 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Jean Smith of Arthur. Dear father of Glen (Caroline) Smith of Carlisle, step-father of Don (Dorothy) McNabb, Douglas (Leona) McNabb, both of Kenilworth, Louise (Bob) Moore of Arthur and Kathleen (Kevin) Smith of Ariss.. Loving grandpa of Charlie, Ben, Ali, loving grandpa to David, Danny, Derek, Rhonda, Charlene, Steven, Adam, Angela, Jessie and Alex. Survived by sister Laura Bond of Cambridge, brothers Fred (Helen) Smith and Wray Smith, both of Troy. Sadly missed by several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Oscar (Doreen) Smith, sister-in-law Joan Smith, brother-in-law Robert Bond and granddaughter Trudy Moore. Sterling was an elder at Troy and Kenilworth United Church. He was a member and director of Rockton Agricultural Society. Enjoyed all his friends who he played cards and shuffleboard with. The family will receive friends at the Crawford Funeral Home 243 George St., Arthur on Thursday November 17, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Also on Friday November 18, 2011 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Troy -Mt. Carmel United Church 2299 Troy Road, Troy. Interment Troy Cemetery, Troy to follow. Remembrances to Troy-Mt. Carmel United Church or Arthur United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
